WANA (Jan 08) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the recent claims made by the French President about Iran, describing them as baseless, contradictory, and deflective.

Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated: “The immediate and real threat to regional peace and stability is the occupying regime of Israel, which, with the full support of the United States and some European countries, including France, continues its occupation and genocide in occupied Palestine and consistently expands its military aggression and expansionism to various countries in the region. It is deeply regrettable that the French President, instead of holding accountable a genocidal and apartheid regime whose leaders are pursued by the International Criminal Court, points the finger of blame at a country that has always been an advocate of peace and respect for the principles of international law.”

The spokesperson also dismissed the French President’s claims about Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing that Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities are within the framework of international laws and under the strict and continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He added that making false claims by a government that has itself failed to fulfill its JCPOA commitments and has played a major role in enabling a genocidal regime to acquire nuclear and mass destruction weapons is clearly deflective and hypocritical.

Baghaei reiterated Iran’s consistent and principled stance on the necessity of a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, rejecting the repeated claim of Iran’s involvement in the Ukraine conflict. He stated: “Such irresponsible statements distort realities and attempt to conceal the destructive role of the main crisis-makers in the world.”

Expressing surprise and regret over the French President’s concern about Iran’s interactions with African countries, Baghaei said: “Countries with a history of brutal colonialism in Africa cannot dictate terms to independent African countries and other nations with the same mindset.”

He emphasized: “The relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with African countries are based on mutual respect and regard for the national sovereignty and political independence of each African country, and are founded on the ‘principles of international law concerning friendly relations and cooperation among states in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations’ to achieve mutual benefits.”
